My Visit to the George W. Bush Museum in Dallas.

Museums are among my favorite places. I planned my children's education around museum visits. Often spending the grocery budget to purchase museum membership and admission tickets. Museum visits with my children in tow centered around our unit studies on oil drilling, space exploration, or entomology. With our sandwiches and water bottles in our backpacks we tackled our lessons with the passion of a hungry bear. Or at least I did. I love learning, something my daddy bequeathed me and a trait I hope I bequeathed my offspring.
George W. Bush, the 43rd President.

Today I visited the George W. Bush Museum in Dallas.  This time, I did not have to settle any sibling squabbles, or skip all the signs with essay-like explanations. I did not have to redirect the attention of my school aged children or point out how important this piece of legislation was. Today, I got to read every sign and listen to all the entries on the audio self guide. I watched all the films and interacted with each technology-rich exhibit. I sat on the benches and just breathed in all the wonderful knowledge and learner-friendly delivery of information. When I get to heaven, God will be waiting to take me through a giant museum of all human history and the wonders of all creation.
Four huge screens above the windows with 3-D video images.

I captured many of the quotes I liked best.

Literacy is a prevailing theme. Some of my favorite titles.

Twisted metal from the Twin Towers.

Large interactive table. Awesome technology.
"We the People"video on the huge screens overhead at the entrance.

President Bush's Second Inaugural Address was imbedded with images and videos. Here is one.

Sitting at the President's desk in the Oval Office.

Doors leading to the Texas version of the Rose Garden outside the Oval Office.

H.W., Me, and W. pose for a quick selfie.

Upholding freedom a prevailing theme.

Showcasing women's stand against tyranny.

Solidarity for women's rights.

The 1st Lady's passion for education.

I hope you enjoyed my pictures as much as I enjoyed going to the museum.

How to Make Authentic Tacos

Warm fresh corn tortillas on an iron griddle (comal).

Tacos are an easy meal that everyone loves. The ingredients are inexpensive and tasty.
I diced some smoked turkey.(Thanks to Hubby Dear) You can use any meat (chicken, pork, or roast). I added three chopped green onions, 1/2 tsp garlic granules (or fresh) and 1/4 tsp chipotle powder.

Place a large spoonful of meat in the warmed tortilla. Fold in half.

Fry in iron skillet (about 1/4 inch deep of oil). I use olive oil. The oil must be hot enough to sizzle when you place the fresh taco in the oil. If it is not hot enough the taco will be soggy and not crispy.

Serve with beans, fresh spinach or lettuce and shredded cheese, salsa and crema (optional)
When golden and crispy turn the tacos over once in the oil with tongs. Serve and eat immediately, cold tacos are no good.
